Summary

Kickstart Your Career in Education
SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Cranleigh, Surrey
Contract Type: Full-time

Are you a psychology, education, or health graduate (or current student) looking to gain practical, hands-on experience with children who have special educational needs? This role is an ideal stepping stone into teaching, clinical psychology, speech therapy, occupational therapy, or social work.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and emotionally intelligent SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school that combines education, care, and therapeutic support. You'll work closely with students who have complex learning difficulties and play a meaningful role in their development.

Why This Role Stands Out:
  • Gain real-world experience that's valued by postgraduate programs in psychology, education, and allied health.

  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists, teachers, and behaviour specialists.

  • Develop skills in communication, behavioural support, and emotional regulation that are transferable to a range of professional pathways.

  • See the direct impact of your work as students gain confidence, skills, and independence.

What You'll Do:
  • Support students aged 5-19 with diverse needs including autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.

  • Help deliver personalised education plans (IEPs) and develop tailored learning strategies.

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups, building trust and encouraging progress at each child's pace.

  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive environment that supports wellbeing and growth.

Who You Might Be:
  • A psychology or education graduate exploring career paths in special education, mental health, or therapy.

  • A gap year student or recent grad seeking experience before applying to further study.

  • A naturally empathetic, curious person who wants to understand how young people grow, learn, and overcome challenges.

You'll Receive:
  • Mentoring and training to support your learning and future career.

  • Experience that looks fantastic on applications for PGCEs, MScs, or other professional courses.

  • A chance to be part of a close-knit, purpose-driven team that values curiosity and compassion.
