Summary
Receive patients and prepare them for treatment considering any patient disability or special need. This involves the adaptation of the dental surgery environment by moving equipment of moderate weight on a frequent basis for wheelchair users. Provide patient with appropriate infection control and health & safety measures, such as protective goggles. Chart and record patients dental health requirements on patients dental notes as instructed by clinicians. Assist during treatment by using relevant equipment and techniques to ensure procedures are carried out safely, efficiently and effectively. Provide appropriate operative support including soft tissue retraction and aspiration during dental procedures. Preparation and scanning of intra-oral radiographs taken by clinicians and maintaining accurate record of radiographs. Knowledge of Local Rules in relation to Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations. Mix and accurately prepare clinical materials, using specific guidelines for each individual material, as requested by clinician for use in patient treatment. Care for the patient before and during treatment by providing emotional empathy and appropriate psychological support and at the end of the treatment session considering any patient disability or special need. Provide appropriate emotional support to clinician to help in management of stressful clinical situations. Support and liaise with patient, parent/carer and clinical operator over future treatment plan and appointments. Skills and ability to provide accuracy and speed when carrying out the above duties to provide a safe, efficient and effective service.
