The Opportunity
An opportunity has become available for a well-versed Senior Authorised Person to join one of our key clients on a permanent basis. As Senior Authorised Person you will become part of a close-knit and highly skilled Engineering team, responsible for maintaining safe systems of work and overseeing critical operations on a highly regulated site.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Deliver safety from the system for day-to-day planned, emergent maintenance activities and outages through assessment of work planning in line with PEM 103 for Plant, LV Apparatus and HV Apparatus through the assessment of Maintenance orders and full application of the Safety Rules (electrical and Mechanical) as well as associated Safety Rule Procedures and Codes of Practices including specific Local Management Instructions implementing these Rules in compliance with LMI 501/512/003
- Compliance with relevant GMI-SHE, GMI-MAN and other HSSE-related Management Instructions, Company Minimum Standards and Local Management Instructions implementing those GMIs, which will form part of the creation of a SSOW
- Manage the updating/Implementation of SEMS relevant to SAP/Permit office (through local or central changes or periodic review).
- Work closely with all members of the planning process, including engineers, Planner, Production manager and Engineering Manager to proactively engage and shape the work delivery plan at each step to ensure delivery is possible.
- Responsible for administration tasks aligned to the Permit Office and Day SAP role.
- Undertake the training of Competent Persons/Nominated Supervisors
- Provide training and support for other/new SAP’s.
- Attend the SRGB, gathering and representing the companies interests and disseminating any information necessary for the sites SAP’s to complete their role competently.
- Support the Authorisation Officer to enable them to enact their duties.
- Co-ordinate maintenance activities with the Control Person and other SAP’s.
- Support Safety Rule investigations.
- Communicate Safety Rule changes, changes to the Permit office or equipment to other SAP’s.
- Responsible for the calibration of all equipment required to provide safety from the system.
- Comply with all local safety and operational processes and procedures.

- Complete audits as required relevant to SSOW
- Maintain current records of Safety Rule Authorised and Nominated Persons
- Responsible for ordering materials and maintaining sufficient stock levels required to maintain permit office continuity
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining sufficient stock levels of maintenance prep equipment
- Responsible for ensuring the work accepted to the plan is deliverable and communicating to the Prod Manager immediately where it’s not
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- Flexible attitude to working time such that they can deliver work the TWAP and emergent work
- High safety standards
- Competent in working within SSOW
- Knowledge of P&ID’s and instrument/electrical diagrams in order to identify and apply suitable isolations to provide safety from the system
- Can effectively manage own time to deliver planned, emergent and outage work
- Builds relationships easily and has good communication skills
- Competent user in IT
- Competent in using Nisoft, eclipse and CMMS (SAP PM)
- High level of attention to detail
It’s great if you also have the following
- Experience in permit issuing at Gas Storage/Power Generation or Petro-chem plants
- Practicing SAP or previous experience (or Permit for work issuing experience)
