Summary

Job Description

To develop, promote and manage adult and family learning opportunities, including adult literacies within Moray, with particular reference to the principles of Adult Learning, the Scottish Government’s and Moray Council’s policies of social inclusion and active citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop promote and manage quality adult and family learning opportunities including adult literacies and digital skills, based on identified local needs.
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate adult and family learning opportunities, including accredited opportunities, within group settings and 1:1, online and face to face
  • Recruit, train and support volunteers working with the Adult & Family Learning team
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective partnerships with all local and Moray-wide adult learning providers.
  • Implement Quality Assurance
  • Undertake other duties as required

The Individual

  • Previous experience of adult and family learning with communities
  • Relevant experience of working with adults in groups
  • Relevant experience of accredited learning for adults
  • Ability and experience to create resources including digital
  • High level of ICT skills; office applications, social media,
    interactive tools and online platforms
  • Ability to demonstrate key competencies for Community Learning and Development.
  • Relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent work experience in Community Learning & Development, Adult and Family Learning, Adult Literacies or related field.
  • Flexible, adaptable and highly motivated.
  • Able to use own judgement and initiative within agreed policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills written, digital and oral
  • Effective time management skills
  • Competent use of IT equipment, software, good keyboard skills and a working knowledge of integrating multi media approaches into adult and family learning.
  • Full driving licence
  • You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car.
  • Open and approachable.
  • Ability to relate to people from all backgrounds and life experiences.

  • Must be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.
  • Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements including working from home
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment/resources, i.e. laptop, books/workbooks.

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.

Starting Salary: £38,699.05 (pro rata)
£20.53 per hour
