Band 7 – Cancer Outpatient Occupational Therapist

Are you an Occupational Therapist interested in Cancer Rehabilitation?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our outpatient Occupational Therapy cancer rehabilitation team, covering clinics at Guy's Cancer Centre. We are a forward-thinking and innovative service, with our staff at the centre of achieving the vision for Guy's Cancer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and motivated Occupational Therapist with excellent clinical, communication, and people management skills to join our team and support the ongoing development of the service.

Our Cancer Occupational Therapy outpatient service provides specialist cancer rehabilitation and symptom management to support patients’ functional wellbeing and quality of life at all stages of their pathway.

This includes targeted one-to-one and group rehabilitation programmes for symptoms such as cancer-related fatigue, sleep disturbance, cancer-related cognitive impairment, breathlessness, and chemo induced peripheral neuropathy.

This role currently works predominantly within the Lung Oncology MDT clinics, however the service works flexibly across the wider cancer outpatient pathway depending on need.

We provide a wide core training programme and this post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills and expand your professional development. The service actively engages with and contributes to wider local and national agendas for cancer care, including presenting multiple pieces of project work at national and international conferences.

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK's best known hospitals - Guy's, St Thomas', Evelina London Children's Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield - as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark, all with a long history of high quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.

Guy's Cancer has embarked upon a comprehensive cancer strategy that will shape the future of services for the next generation of patients. We strive to be a world class cancer service, delivering internationally distinctive services that are patient centred, research driven and clinically led.

We are among the UK's busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark.

We have around 22,700 staff, making us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country and one of the biggest employers locally. We aim to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and continue to develop new and existing partnerships with local people, patients, neighbouring NHS organisations, local authorities and charitable bodies and GPs. We strive to recruit and retain the best staff as the dedication and skills of our employees lie at the heart of our organisation and ensure that our services are of the highest quality, safe and focused on our patients

Please see attached the job description and person specification documentation for further information on the role and its requirements.
