Summary
At Pobl Group, this role is best known as Scheme Support Officer. Are you looking for a role where you can make a positive difference to a young person’s life? We have opportunity for a Scheme Support Officer to join our Supported Accommodation service in Rhondda Cynon Taff on a Part-time (24 hrs), permanent basis.
It is essential for the successful candidate to have a full drivers licence and access to a vehicle.
Where does the role fit in?
The Old Bakery is a supported accommodation service delivering housing-related support to young people experiencing homelessness. This is a rewarding role where you will have the opportunity to empower our young people to grow and develop towards becoming independent.
Our team provides support to up to 5 individuals between the ages of 16 and 21. Located in the Aberdare area, this is a role where you have the autonomy to come up with innovative ideas that get our young people out and about to have new experiences and learn new skills. No two days are the same, and it is especially rewarding when you see their development and help them move on into their own tenancy.
The role involves lone working and dealing with challenging behaviours, so resilience, confidence, and the ability to work independently are essential. Our young people tend to stay at the service long term due to their age and the need for extended support to gain the skills required to maintain a tenancy.
Day-to-Day Duties:
As a Scheme Support Officer, you will work alongside the Project Workers providing the crucial support to our clients. It is also essential that the successful candidate is IT literate, as we use systems to record customers’ support plans and operate the service effectively.
Your day will consist of:
Engaging and interacting with the people we support
Delivering workshops relating to tenancy management, health, wellbeing, sexual health, and any other subject depending on the needs of our young people
Supporting our young people as directed by the Project Worker according to the support plan specifically tailored to each person
Wellbeing checks
Ensuring the building is secure, including health & safety checks and maintaining an awareness of who is in the building
Encouraging our people to engage in the support we have on offer to them
Coming up with new, innovative ideas and activities
Dealing with challenging behaviours and responding to arising needs
Addressing any additional needs the people we support might have
Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role, and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs, including self-harming, alcohol misuse, mental health, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour, learning difficulties, and on some occasions, a lack of engagement.
You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours and each person we support has come from a different background, with their own story to tell, so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental.
Pobl Benefits:
Contract type: Part-time (24hrs)
Salary: £24,531.00 FTE
For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
Work Pattern: The scheme operates 24/7 therefore you will be required to work a mixture of days, evenings, waking nights and weekends.
The successful candidate will need a full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
26 days holiday, pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays
Pension scheme
Sick Pay
Mileage is paid at 45p per mile
Colleague Referral Scheme (£250 per referral)
