Summary
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST Support the senior practitioners to deliver nursing care to meet the needs of the practice population in accordance with agreed practice protocols. Through use of evidence based practice, perform wound care using aseptic technique. Undertake health screening, and venepuncture. Assist in addressing health promotion and public health strategy, with the maintenance of disease registers and provision of support and advice to patients within health promotion. Support patients and colleagues in adopting sound infection control measures. To assist in delivering care for specific diseases and health promotion, following completion of accredited training courses, or supervised experience to demonstrating competencies relating to the following, Wound management. Administer injections under Patient Group Direction or Patient specific direction. Immunisation of children. Be competent in anaphylaxis and resuscitation. Ear syringing following appropriate training Men's health. Chronic disease management. Women's health screening, i.e. cervical smears. Travel health Home visits to vaccinate patients OTHER DUTIES Ensure safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines. Ensure the decontamination of instruments and clinical equipment according to local and national guidelines. To be aware of current evidence based approaches to patient care and demonstrates this through continuous improvement of patient care.
