Summary

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Psychologist to join the Reparative Care Team within Children and Family Community Services.

The Reparative Care Team is a service based in Children and Family Community Services for the care of young people who are in residential, foster or adoptive care, and their carers and families.

This team provides a professional and supportive service, following best practice guidelines, and using evidence-based approaches.

The work will include undertaking specialist complex psychological assessments and delivering psychological therapies to children (often with trauma and attachment related issues, challenging behaviours and mental health difficulties). There is a significant training and support role for carers and colleagues in other teams. There is also a lead clinical supervisory role in supporting the delivery of therapeutic interventions by social work colleagues. This will require providing regular clinical supervision to other professionals. The psychologist will offer specialist consultation and training to the rest of the service alongside other social work and therapeutic practitioner staff within the team.

The post is in a large multi- disciplinary team, alongside a clinical psychologist. The psychologists provide the Reparative Care Team with a psychological resource within an equality and human rights framework.
