We are excited by the opportunity Millsike presents: a blank canvas on which we can paint a bright future for our prisoners. Our mission is clear: to create an environment that empowers, inspires, and supports individuals to re-enter society with hope, purpose, and a life plan. To achieve this, we will set a culture of rehabilitation and restoration underpinned by integrity and high expectations. Prisoners will experience a dramatic shift from traditional prison environments. Millsike will be a vibrant, bustling community, teeming with industry, activity and opportunities for personal growth. Above all, we will ensure our approach offers a deep sense of safety/respect, through a supportive, uplifting environment, that helps prisoners to see their potential and that unlocks a brighter future for all.
Job objectives and responsibilities
The ideal candidate for this position will hold accreditation to the 18th Edition of the New Wiring Regulations, also known as BS 7671, as updated in January 2019 by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or suitable cross industry sector qualifications such as Level 3 Electrical Engineering skills which meet with the maintenance processes required for other systems such as Fire and Security systems and Electro-mechanical systems for gate and pedestrian systems controls. They should possess relevant experience in providing electrical maintenance services within a large and complex environment. Basic to intermediate IT skills are necessary, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with some experience in updating systems.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, as is the ability to take notes effectively. The candidate should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be self-motivated. A substantial practical background in various building services disciplines is required, encompassing heating, hot water, ventilation, refrigeration, environmental systems, electrical power and distribution, and public health.
The candidate must be a team player, flexible within contracted hours, and exhibit a positive, ‘can do' attitude. An intuitive and proactive nature is important, along with high moral standards and absolute integrity. This combination of skills and experience will ensure success in this role.
As a business, Mitie Care & Custody is committed to diversity and inclusion and we would welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds including veterans, those looking for a career change, and people who have experience in social care or a learning environment.
