Summary
This is a 12-month fixed term post for a full-time Stem Cell Transplant clinical fellow (SpR /ST3+ level) based at St Georges Hospital NHS Trust in the department of haematology. The post holder is expected to participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota for all patients under the care of the Clinical Haematology team. This includes being part of a 1 in 10 rota for all junior doctors. At times, there may be a requirement to cross cover other parts of the service. The post holder will work as an integrated part of the haematology team at an ST3+ level. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising inpatient and outpatient care of patients being worked up and undergoing autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation; as well as cross-cover of our IEC (immune effector cells) therapy patients. They will play a key role in the planning and organisation of the transplant programme. Other responsibilities include liaising with donor registries with regards to donor searches and donor selection and medical clearance. The Bone Marrow Transplant fellow is responsible for coordinating patient care across multiple areas within the service Apheresis unit, Day Unit reviews, outpatient clinics, the inpatient nursing unit and the community in order to provide continuity of patient care across all settings. They will review patients in the post-transplant Day Unit clinics as well as run outpatient clinics with consultant supervision.
