Summary
We’re seeking a motivated and skilled Step 3 Operational Lead to oversee our team of qualified, trainee, and Senior High Intensity Therapists for our NHS Wirral Taking Therapies Service.In this pivotal role, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring strong recovery outcomes, clear pathway alignment, and the effective use of data to drive performance. You’ll work hand-in-hand with the Clinical Lead and Service Lead, sharing responsibility for key operational and clinical management duties such as recruitment, supervision, line management, and performance oversight.Key Responsibilities: Lead the successful delivery of Step 3 within a Talking Therapies Service.Provide monthly line management, supervision, and support for Senior HITs and HITs, ensuring performance, training, and development needs are met.Monitor service performance through audits, reports, KPIs, and waiting list management.Ensure pathway alignment and fidelity to the service’s clinical model.Work closely with Clinical and Service Leads to address performance, outcomes, and service improvements.Facilitate team meetings, peer skills groups, and contribute to teaching, training, and staff development.Act as first point of contact for incident investigations, applying root cause analysis and sharing lessons learned.Support trainee therapists in partnership with universities, providing induction, supervision, and guidance throughout their placements.Maintain a small clinical caseload to support operational delivery and uphold clinical standards.Build effective relationships with professionals and stakeholders to support service delivery.Undertake additional duties as required to meet organisational needs.About you:We would love to hear from you if you possess the following:Qualifications & Knowledge: Accredited High Intensity Practitioner with a recognised Talking Therapies qualification (BABCP, BACP, IPT, DIT, or CFD). Strong knowledge of Step 3 interventions, the Talking Therapies model, and national KPIs.Experience: Proven track record of managing teams and HR responsibilities, conducting clinical/operational audits, providing clinical supervision, and supporting robust risk management.Skills: Confident in using outcome measures, analysing and presenting clinical data, and proficient in IT systems. Excellent judgement, decision-making, and time management skills.Attributes: Enthusiastic, motivated, able to manage a high workload under pressure, committed to CPD, and capable of working independently or collaboratively while fostering positive relationships.Values & Behaviour: Respects confidentiality, autonomy, and diversity.
