Summary

Architectural Technician

Introduction

A leading regional housebuilder is looking to hire an experienced Architectural Technician to join their West Yorkshire team in Leeds.

This role is to ensure that the company not only complies with all relevant Technical and Construction (Design and Management) legislation but also guarantees that their house types consistently meet building regulations and warranty requirements. This position plays a pivotal role in monitoring and reporting on the progress of the house-type construction developments to the Architectural Manager. It also involves the preparation of essential architectural drawings that will facilitate and enhance the construction of these impressive developments.

The role of a Senior Architectural Technician

  • Prepare construction packages, including details and specifications.
  • Collaborate with external consultants and suppliers to complete a comprehensive tender package for the commercial, construction, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Liaise with the NHBC Building Control department.
  • Support the maintenance of standard house types, specifications, and details, while suggesting improvements for future packages. Provide technical assistance to the team as needed.
  • Attend site meetings as required.
  • Stay updated on CDM (Construction Design and Management) and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) responsibilities relevant to the role.
  • Stay informed about current legislation and regulations, as well as upcoming regulations that may impact the industry.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent architectural experience - particularly house types.
  • Proven track record of delivering Building Control approvals.
  • Understand how the design aspects of a construction project influence and relate to performance and functional issues so that practical questions can be addressed at the outset.
  • Design and planning expertise, along with technical knowledge.
  • Sound working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Sound working knowledge of Photoshop package.
  • Sound working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC / Building Regulation requirements, Codes of Practice, and Code for Sustainable Homes.
  • Good communication and professional presentation skills.
  • High degree of self-motivation and drive.
  • Persuasion and influencing skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
