Broom Barns Primary School is a one-form entry school based in Bedwell, Stevenage – Ofsted rated as a ‘Good’ school (July 2023). Due to the ill health of our current Site Manager, we are looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude, who is hardworking, enthusiastic, self-motivated and trustworthy who will take pride in looking after our school, ensuring it is a welcoming and safe environment.

This is a full time role, 7am – 10am and 2pm to 6pm Monday - Friday, 52 weeks of the year, with annual leave entitlement to be taken during the school holidays (this may be negotiable).
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, professional, committed and reliable Site Manager to lead our Premises Team. This is a key role to help provide a safe, efficient and effective learning and working environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
Ideally the successful candidate will have:-
Previous caretaking experience within a school environment (beneficial)
Excellent DIY skills and general maintenance ability (essential)
Experience of H&S regulations preferably within an educational environment
Good communication skills
Basic computer skills (email/word/excel)
Experience of managing a team
Proactive and positive manner
Physical fitness is a prerequisite as the post includes movement of furniture, fixtures, supplies and other such equipment to various locations within the school site.
Discretion, professionalism and confidentiality are pivotal to this role
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Locking and unlocking the school and carrying out grounds security/safety checks
The successful candidate will be required to act as a key holder.
Carry out and record statutory checks and maintain Health and Safety records
Maintenance and cleaning of the school grounds and property to a high standard including
Managing our friendly cleaning team
Liaising with contractors
Monitor site stock and order supplies.
Undertake risk assessments, ensure compliance within the school with all health and safety responsibilities for example COSHH, ladder, asbestos, legionella
Participate fully in all aspects of the life of the school and maintaining good relationships with all stakeholders
