Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Contract: FTC for up to a year to cover maternity

The Burgess Hill Academy boasts excellent sports facilities, including expansive playing fields, a state-of-the-art 3G pitch, six tennis courts, a fully equipped sports hall, a gym, and a fitness suite. These facilities allow us to provide high-quality PE lessons and a variety of extra-curricular activities.

We are a large and dynamic department that delivers a diverse range of sports, including football, netball, rugby, basketball, gymnastics, dance, hockey, handball, trampolining, athletics, cricket, rounders, tennis, volleyball, badminton, boxing, cheerleading, and table tennis.

At Key Stage 3, we dedicate one period per fortnight to our Life curriculum, offering students opportunities beyond the national curriculum to explore alternative PE activities, health, wellbeing and personal development. At Key Stage 4, we offer both the Cambridge National in Sports Studies and AQA GCSE PE, ensuring students have a strong foundation for further study or careers in sport.

Beyond lessons, we provide a wide range of extra-curricular clubs, including football, rugby, basketball, cricket, athletics, and netball. We are committed to offering as many opportunities as possible for students to participate in sport outside of lessons, with regular fixtures and tournaments that help foster a competitive and inclusive sporting environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and engaging Teacher of PE to join our established team to cover full time maternity leave for up to one year.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a drive for excellence and a desire to be outstanding
• Is highly organised, motivated and driven to succeed
• Is a specialist in PE with the ability to teach all sports including netball, gymnastics, dance, football, fitness, rounders and athletics
• Is a team member who will collaborate with colleagues to ensure the progress of students
• Ideally has a proven track record of achieving outstanding results at GCSE and BTEC sport
• Has enthusiasm, presence and authority who can deliver consistently

We welcome applications from both experienced and early career teachers.
