Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This prestigious establishment is responsible for post-graduate education and most of the command, staff, leadership, Defence management, acquisition, and technology training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco supports the DA as the MOD's primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
Serco have an exciting new role as a Families & Welfare Specialist Co-ordinator at the Defence Academy. The key purpose of this role is to be the focal point for all Families at Shrivenham Station, dealing with the problems and concerns associated with living in a Service environment and advising on local community, welfare, and social activities. To effectively Line Manage the Serco Welfare Team, the post holder will actively participate in the recruitment of staff, allocate work to staff, monitor, and manage absences, performance, well-being and learning and development requirements as well as conducting annual Performance Reviews. The post holder will also be responsible for the coaching and mentoring of colleagues working in the area.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deputise and carry our Ad hoc tasks for the Shrivenham Station Families & Welfare Officer/Warrant Officer as required.
- Coordinate work of Lead Administrator.
- Arrange/assist with functions and events including Coffee Mornings, Charity Events and annual and ad hoc Meet and Greet events.
- Update Welfare property registers and conduct annual returns.
- In liaison with the Station Welfare Officer, the allocation of Welfare housing, including dealing with bedding requests, raising bills, taking payments for the use of the houses, and reporting any maintenance issues via the Self-Service System. This may also include light cleaning of properties.
- Perform reception duties and function as the focal point for all visitors to the JCC.
- To assist with the movement of furniture and welfare stores, within the JCC.
- Regular liaison with volunteer individuals and agencies operating out of the Jubilee Community Centre.
- Line Manager Duties and responsibilities for the Families and Welfare Lead Administrator. Inc Annual PDR and Absence Manager Reporting.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Ability to demonstrate leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring, training, performance management.
- Previous Administration experience.
- PC literate, with experience in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- UK Driving Licence
- There is a requirement to use MOD-provided vehicles.
