A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Bury is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This is a unique role, offering the chance to provide 1:1 support for an extremely intelligent autistic student, while also working across the school's SEN provision on a split timetable.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping this student access the curriculum, manage social interaction, and achieve their potential, as well as supporting other pupils within the SEN department.
Key Responsibilities:
-Providing 1:1 support for an autistic student, ensuring they are fully engaged and challenged academically
-Adapting learning strategies to support the student's individual needs and strengths
-Encouraging independence, confidence, and social skills development
-Working within the SEN provision to support pupils with a range of additional needs
-Supporting teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour strategies, and EHCP outcomes
-Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families

-Previous experience working with Autistic students or young people with SEN (essential)
-A patient, understanding, and nurturing approach
-Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
-Flexibility to adapt support depending on whether working 1:1 or within the SEN provision
-A genuine passion for supporting students to achieve their full potential
