Your new company
Join a dynamic Telecoms Design Team working on cutting-edge IT in Construction (ICS) projects at a large aviation company based in Southwest London. These projects encompass the design and installation of passive fire safety devices and structured cabling across complex infrastructure environments. This is a 12-month rolling contract role, Outside of IR35.
Your new role
As a Passive Fire Protection Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in integrating passive fire protection (fire stopping) elements into coordinated ICS designs. You will collaborate closely with fire engineers, specialist organisations, and manufacturers to ensure compliance and seamless integration from design through to installation.This is a hands-on role requiring a minimum of three days per week on-site, based just outside Southwest London.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and coordination of passive fire protection elements within ICS/IT infrastructure projects.
Collaborate with fire engineers, manufacturers, and specialist consultants to develop compliant and installable fire stopping solutions.
Develop and manage the Building Works in Connection (BWIC) process for new penetrations.
Oversee and coordinate survey teams.
Liaise with Building Control to ensure regulatory compliance.
Work with the supply chain to develop installation proposals.
Drive best practices and implement new processes within a large, multidisciplinary team.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential:
Experience of designing/specifying passive fire protection products or working within a fire engineering organisation.
Strong understanding of Building Regulations and fire-stopping compliance.
Proven ability to manage design coordination and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable:
Experience with passive fire protection installation.
Familiarity with the Building Safety Act 2022.
Knowledge of products from manufacturers such as Hilti, Quelfire, Rockwool, etc.
Qualifications in fire engineering.
Understanding of IT structured cabling (e.g., Cat6, Fibre, Cellular).
