Summary

To perform autonomous diagnostic and prognostic investigations for patients attending the Unit. To make autonomous decisions regarding admitting and discharging patients within own scope of expertise. To Coordinate within the unit, taking referrals and lead the staff on duty ensuring patient safety. They will work independently, with a high degree of autonomy and take part in clinical supervision. They will be able to manage their own caseload in response to unpredictable patterns of work. They will accept referrals from other healthcare professionals and work unsupervised To work closely with Medical, Nursing and Allied Health professionals within the organization to facilitate prompt, safe, evidenced based patient care. To triage patients, prioritizing clinical need and highlighting those patients who require immediate medical intervention or urgent review by a clinical specialist, such as cardiology. To support and mentor Band 6 Nurse Practitioners, and all less senior members of the nursing and clinical team, including providing advice and guidance on a wide range of issues. To make best use of all available resources. To actively participate in audits and research relevant to area of clinical practice Involvement in teaching at both a departmental and organizational level. Work with medical and nursing colleagues to provide a good standard of holistic care for patients Work with Ward Coordinators and Patient Flow to provide emergency admissions access to the service Assist the team to develop innovative and flexible approaches to care. Ensure accurate and legible nursing records are kept in accordance with trust policy and NMC Assisting in developing clinical protocols/guidelines and standards to facilitate practice developments. Development of clinical staff within the department, contributing towards the ongoing education and development needs of the unit. Support the development of an integrated approach to the delivery of Urgent and Emergency Care.
