Summary
About the role
To manage the Catering team and services for the Adult Hospice within an agreed budget, ensuring that all statutory and environmental regulations are met. To coordinate and contribute to the preparation and cooking of food for patients, staff, the coffee shop and vending machine.
Essential criteria
- To plan menus, ensuring the correct balance and nutritional content, liaising with the nursing team regarding patients’ requirements when necessary.
- To have knowledge or experience of food prepared for patients with swallowing difficulties, preferably with a knowledge of the IDDSI framework.
- To prepare and cook meals daily, maintaining the quality, content and presentation of all food.
- To delegate tasks to relevant members of the Catering team to fulfil the catering requirements for each shift.
- To ensure that patients menus, visitor menus, and staff menus are printed weekly with all food allergens included and forwarded to all relevant areas.
- To plan and coordinate provision of lunches for education, events or meetings as required
- To periodically identify methods of seeking feedback from patients, visitors and staff regarding the quality-of-service provision.
- To liaise with the Nursing team regarding patients’ nutrition, improvements for patients’ catering needs
- To manage the rota ensuring adequate staff cover for all shifts including evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and the Christmas and New Year period
- To help with covering shifts in the kitchen when needed, including weekend days and to work a share of Bank Holidays including over the Christmas and New Year period
