Summary

An opportunity has arisen within the Neighbourhoods & Environment directorate for an Assistant Cook to work under the supervision of the Cook, assisting in the production of the School Meals Catering service, observing all food hygiene and health & safety regulations. The successful candidate will undertake the full range of Cook’s duties in the absence of the Cook to include all administrative duties and procedures.


The post holder could be asked to cover long or short-term absences within Blaenau Gwent School Meals service.


You will be prepared to work additional hours or at any reasonable time of day as required in order to ensure the smooth running of the catering unit.


The successful candidate will possess a current Food Safety Level 3 qualification and professional cooking qualification. You will have experience of working within the catering industry with practical catering skills.


This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive pre-employment screening process will be undertaken which will include an Enhanced Disclosure with Child Barred List
