We are currently seeking a experienced Operations Supervisor to join our Catering unit in Crawley. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards, managing resources and productivity, and providing leadership, coaching, and support to the team to achieve performance targets and maintain high operational standards.

Some of the key responsibilities and areas of this role are as follows;

Day to Day Operation

  • Carry out day-to-day activities in accordance with the role's demands. Execute all tasks assigned to the required standard.

Planning Horizon

  • Plans and performs assigned tasks daily in accordance with the required SOPs and safety rules. Adjusts work plan based on changes in operational demands and supervisory instructions.
  • Ensure work is completed according to the daily work schedule and costs are within agreed targets
  • Monitor and manage wastage

Policy and Process

  • Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure compliance and smooth operation of activities are fulfilled.

Financial Management

  • Ensure that activities are carried out to reduce costs to the organization, such as limiting wastage, using proper equipment, and reducing paper use whenever possible.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to an improvement project
  • Deliver work consistently and proactively, learning from established precedents to achieve better results.
  • Monitor team productivity rates and provide remedial actions where required to maintain or improve efficiency.

Problem-Solving

  • Responsible for managing day-to-day problems in line with established processes and procedures, effectively escalating problems where immediate established solutions are unavailable.
  • Ensure the work schedule is maintained by the team on shift, taking effective corrective action as required.
  • Monitor team productivity rates and take remedial action where necessary.

Governance & Controls

  • Responsible for adhering to compliance to required standards as set in ‘The dnata Way’ and local legislations.
  • Carry out daily compliance checks and communicate issues appropriately.
  • Oversee and ensure that team members always follow food and personal hygiene procedures.
  • Oversee and ensure team members always keep their work area clean and presentable.

Risk Awareness & Responsibility

  • Act in the best interest of the company always. Identify, evaluate, and respond to potential risks and hazards. Report and escalate concerns to the Line Manager/leader when necessary.
  • Ensure your area and team are compliant at all times, following relevant safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure food and personal hygiene procedures are always followed by team members.

Customers

  • Deal with day-to-day interactions with customers/internal customers as required.
  • Ensure all team members always keep their work area clean and presentable, ensuring a professional environment.

Managing Performance

  • Perform according to defined objectives in line with the dnata framework and process.
  • Monitor team productivity rates and provide remedial actions where required.
  • Ensure work schedules and targets are met, ensuring performance is aligned with company standards.
  • Work with team members to achieve daily/weekly/monthly targets.

Role specific qualifications or licenses:

  • Provide supervisory experience in packaging, equipment management, or a similar leadership role overseeing a team.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing background is highly advantageous

  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal and active listening

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of operational processes, stock management and compliance standards

  • E-mail writing skills, with a good grasp of the English language, ensuring clear and professional communication
