Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Technician/Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Procurement team at Barts Health NHS Trust. We are looking for a dedicated team player, with excellent leadership skills and experience.

As the Lead Pharmacy Procurement Specialist, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing innovative procurement strategies.

The Pharmacy Department at Barts Health is one of the largest in the country and covers a population of 2.5 million. We provide clinical pharmacy and medicines optimisation services from our five hospital sites across the City of London, East and Northeast London.

The successful candidate will be based at the Royal London hospital but may be required to work at any of the Barts Health NHS Trust sites.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading a Centralised Pharmacy Procurement Service including responsibility for contract changes, contract variance claims and shortages for Barts Health NHS Trust
• Responsible for ensuring adherence to standing financial instructions and ensuring MPSC contracts are adhered to when procuring medicines for Barts Health NHS Trust
• Responsible for the development of pharmacy procurement initiatives, across the trust ensuring minimisation of medicines waste, increase cost efficiency and ensure appropriate stock turnover.
• Lead on and contribute to the delivery of allocated pharmacy procurement projects ensuring that all processes comply with legislative requirements and reflect best procurement practice
• Establish and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships through regular close contact, including face to face meetings, liaising with and facilitating networks and stakeholder groups.
• Management and leadership of the procurement and invoicing teams including Pharmacy technicians, assistants and administrative clerical staff members
• Deputise for the Pharmacy Service lead for Procurement and Distribution in their absence.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
• Proven experience in pharmaceutical procurement, ideally within a healthcare setting.
• Strong understanding of procurement regulations and guidelines.
• Extensive experience of managing and leading teams
