UHBW Critical Care is looking to recruit hard-working, self-motivated and inspiring doctors to join our team of 30 Consultants. We are looking to recruit to substantive Consultant positions.
These posts are to help support an ongoing expansion in critical care capacity on the Bristol site. The current ICU bedbase compromises 60 beds in 6 discrete clinical areas across the Bristol and Weston sites. As a large acute and elective Trust we admit more than 3000 patients a year to the adult critical care service. Our severity of illness and outcomes are consistently well above the national average based on serial ICNARC data.
For more information, please contact Dr Chris Bourdeaux (Clinical Lead) who can be contacted via his secretary:
Emma Pearse- Senior Secretary & PA - Critical Care
Email: emma.pearse@uhbw.nhs.uk
Recent developments include the merger of the General, Cardiac and Weston adult critical care services. Our unit was commissioned as a Veno-Venous ECMO / Severe Acute Respiratory Failure centre in 2022. We have a newly-launched Critical Care Outreach service on the Bristol site, to add to a well-established Weston service.
Candidates can be within 6 months of gaining CCT at the date of interview (please note this does not apply to CESR applications) and have GMC registration with a licence to practice. This is a full-time ICM post in terms of PAs but both full-time and less than full-time working is accommodated within the Consultant rota structure.
Interviews will be held by a multi-disciplinary panel on Wednesday 22nd October 2025, and you will be asked to prepare a presentation as part of the interview process.
