Summary


Are you looking for a Band 7 Advanced Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist role. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic SLT to cover maternity leave within the CCICP acute SLT team supporting acute wards at Leighton Hospital, Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust.

To provide autonomous advanced specialist assessment, treatment and management for inpatients presenting with a range of complex dysphagia and communication . To ensure that patients on he acute wards are supported to communicate by facilitating partnership working with families and loves ones, using low and high tech AAC. To plan and carry out joint assessments with the MDT as required. To attend ward rounds as required to contribute to clinical discussion and devising MDT treatment plans. To make appropriate referrals and participate in the rota for videofluroscopy clinic. To support acute ward areas by providing advanced specialist assessment, treatment and management for inpatients presenting with a range of complex dysphagia and communication difficulties.

To contribute to education and training in specialist area for SLT CPD, SLT students and members of the MDT. To maintain a high standard of governance for specialist clinical area, for example maintaining mandatory training, up to date CPD and professional standards and contributing to audit. To support leadership within the department, by ensuring effective day to day organisation and provision of SLT service to acute wards, promoting and leading on service improvements and supporting all staff to maintain professional standards.

· To work autonomously to manage a defined patient caseload whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team, referring to a senior medical clinician as and when required.

· To maintain professional practice within the context of the Health & Care Professions Council. This includes standards of proficiency, conduct and performance, ethics and continuing professional development.

· To manage a defined case load, demonstrating appropriate time management and organisation skills.
