We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic Maternity Support Worker to join our friendly & dedicated team.
You will be working within the Labour ward (Ward 26 and Ward 24). You will undertake a range of duties in the Maternity setting under the supervision of a Registered Midwife. Your working week covers a 7 day service, 24 hours, 365 days a year. Shifts are 10 or 12 hours (days and nights) with some weekends and bank holidays. Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive orientation programme and are assured that they will receive appropriate support and training to meet expected competencies.
Maternity support workers (MSWs) are an integral part of the maternity workforce and play an important role in supporting midwives and the wider maternity teams, mothers and their babies through pregnancy, labour and during the postnatal period.
Your area of work will be Ward 26.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K).

If not already trained, you will be expected to complete Trust Venepuncture training.
You will perform adult and neonatal observations (vital signs), and document.
It is essential to be computer literate to use Trust systems for documentation.
You will receive appropriate training to deliver Public Health advice.
You will delegated tasks by the Midwife in charge to include running errands, admin support, and transporting samples.
General cleaning of clinical areas will also form part of your role, as clinics are in progress. You will also be expected to escalate concerns to the Midwife in charge.
