The Role

As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils aged 5–19 who have autism, communication difficulties, and other learning needs. Supporting both 1:1 and in small groups, you’ll play a key role in helping students develop their communication skills and access learning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
• Delivering targeted interventions designed by the school’s Speech and Language Therapists (SaLTs).
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and social interaction.
• Working alongside teachers, therapists, and SEN staff to create an inclusive environment.
• Assisting with classroom routines, learning activities, and progress monitoring.

Person Specification

• A graduate with a degree in Psychology, Speech and Language, Education, or related fields.
• Interest in speech and language therapy, SEN education, or child development.
• Experience supporting children with SEN (desirable but not essential).
• Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills.
• A proactive team player, committed to helping students succeed.
