DWP have been carrying out a large technology transition over the past few years and there is still a long way to go.

Join the Network Service Operations team as Senior Network Engineer in the next step to transform the DWPs datacentre and remote site network infrastructure into leading edge technologies.

We have several projects underway in Wi-Fi, On-Prem Datacentre and Cloud. You will be responsible for managing and supporting skilled, self-sufficient, and determined engineers drive improvements and good practices, as well as ensuring current legacy infrastructure remains stable.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be tasked to provide operational support, plan and carry out planned ‘business as usual’ work such as upgrades and failover exercise as well as provide input into service improvements. You will:

  • Demonstrate significant experience of supporting and mentoring the development of team members to successfully deliver high quality outcomes that meet the customers’ needs and provides value for money.
  • Provide 3rd line support and escalation for incident and problem resolution, this could involve out of hours work.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of BAU exercises, this could involve out of hours work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organisation and 3rd-Parties suppliers.
  • Understanding of ITSM process mainly focused on Incident, Problem and Accept into Service Management.
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tooling – e.g. BMC Entuity, Wireshark and NetScout.
  • Strong technical knowledge in Cloud and On-Prem Network Infrastructure, Next Generation Firewall, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies.
  • Experience in Aruba Central and Clearpass would be preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in Arista Cloud-vision and DC-VXLAN would be preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code and Network Automation in Terraform, Ansible and Python would be preferred but not essential.
