Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Salary: Band F, NJC points 16-19 Full time equivalent: £30,518 - £32,061
Actual pro-rata: £21,069 - £22,135 per annum
Contract: Permanent, term time plus 2 days
Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8.15am – 2.45pm)
Closing Date: Friday 26th September 2025 at 9am
Start Date: 3rd November 2025 or earlier

Our fantastic Cover Supervisor is now training to be a teacher in our wonderful school and this has created an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated to provide excellent lessons for our fantastic students across a variety of subjects, the lessons will have been prepared in advance for you to deliver - no day will be the same.

You do not have to be a qualified teacher to apply - have you always thought you would enjoy teaching and having all the school holidays off, but do not have a teaching qualification? Someone with:

• Experience of working with young people, such as extra curricular activity, e.g. sports clubs, tutoring, teaching assistant etc.
• Experience of communicating with young people in a clear, friendly and approachable way.
• Good ICT skills.
• Vision, flair and creativity as well as the energy and determination to bring about change.
• A strong team player ethic, who works effectively with young people, colleagues and the wider community.
• The energy, stamina and commitment to make a difference and create thebest possible educational opportunities for the young people at Ryburn Valley High School.

What the role involves in a nutshell:

• Supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of their teacher. The focus of such cover will be to deliver the lesson their teacher had planned, respond to questions, assist students to undertake the activities and stay on task and maintain order
• Supporting individuals and groups of students to enable access to learning. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas
• Support teaching staff with general administration under the direction of the Cover Manager
