The Role

The school is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Qualified SENCO for a maternity cover position starting in January. This is a crucial role at a dynamic and ambitious academy, where the successful candidate will lead and manage the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role involves working closely with the senior leadership team, teachers, and support staff to ensure that all students, regardless of their needs, receive an outstanding education. You will be instrumental in shaping the SEND provision and ensuring that every child is supported to reach their full potential.

Position Details:

Salary: 35k to 58k per annum, £180-300 per day.

Start date: Immediately

Contract: Maternity Cover

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience of working with and supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, such as autism and complex communication needs.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing the SEND provision across the school
  • Developing and implementing the school's SEND policy
  • Managing a team of teaching assistants and support staff
  • Conducting assessments and writing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Liaising with external agencies and parents
  • Providing professional guidance to colleagues on teaching students with SEND
  • Monitoring the progress of students with SEND
  • Organising and delivering professional development for staff
  • Ensuring the school meets all statutory requirements for SEND
  • Promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment
