SEN Teaching Assistant


Location: Beswick, Manchester
Contract: Full-time, long-term supply (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time)
Pay rate: £105 per day
Start date: September 2025

An inclusive and supportive primary school in Beswick, Manchester is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The school is well-regarded for its caring approach and dedication to ensuring that pupils with additional needs are given the right support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

As an SEN TA, you will work closely with pupils who have a variety of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. You will play a key role in providing structured support that builds confidence, independence, and essential learning skills.

Your role will include:
- Offering 1:1 support as well as small group interventions
- Using communication systems such as PECS or Makaton to enhance learning and interaction
- Supporting pupils with sensory regulation, transitions, and emotional well-being
- Following individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
- Collaborating with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide consistent, high-quality support

The successful applicant will:

· Have experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs

· Have a calm, proactive and resilient with a person-centred approach

· Have right to work in the UK and full-time availability

· PECS, Makaton, BSL or AAC training (desirable)

· Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (desirable)

· MAPA, Team-Teach, or similar de-escalation training (desirable)
