Summary

A Vacancy at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

A great opportunity has arisen to work in a busy Neuro Rehab Unit (Floyd Unit) as part of the Neuro Rehab MDT as a Senior Assistant Psychologist. The role will be supervised and guided by a Consultant Neuropsychologist and will involve a variety of psychological and neuropsychological work with the post holder carrying out specific elements of Neuropsychology care plans. The work will include psychological therapeutic work, cognitive assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, and contributing to some behavioural support work.

The role will provide valuable experience for those aiming to do the Clinical Psychology Clin Psy D in future. The successful applicant will be a valuable member of the Neuro Rehab MDT, the North Area Team and the Department of Neuropsychology at Salford.

For further information or to arrange a conversation about the role please contact Dr Chris Martin, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist.

The role involves working with patients with Acquired Brain Injury and Neurological events that impact on people’s mood, cognition, behaviour and can affect and impact upon a person’s work and social life, and support systems. The successful applicant will be working with patients with high distress, significant cognitive difficulties and people who are working to come to terms with and deal with very challenging life and health events.

The post holder will be guided and supported by a Consultant Psychologist and will have regular communication with them. There will be regular joint sessions and input with other members of the MDT (e.g. OT, Physio, and SLT). There are also opportunities for group work with patients and the role will likely include some family support work. Enthusiasm, reflective skills and great communication skills will be important in the role.

On completion we hope you will be in a strong position to apply for other Assistant Psychologist, or equivalent, posts to continue to develop knowledge and experience and that you will go on to make an application for clinical training.
