Location: Hybrid – 2 to 3 days per week in the Barrhead office
Contract Type: Ongoing, temporary role

Are you an experienced compliance or finance professional with a strong eye for detail and a passion for continuous improvement? Brightwork are delighted to be supporting a key client who are looking for a Compliance Specialist to lead their Revenues Service Compliance Team and help ensure financial controls, reconciliations, and audit requirements are robust, effective, and consistently delivered.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading a team of four, providing day-to-day support, 1:1s, and development through quality conversations.

  
  

• Overseeing all aspects of compliance across the Revenues Service, including Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates (NDR).

  
  

• Identifying areas of compliance risk or vulnerability and driving the development of corrective action plans.

  
  

• Ensuring procedures are followed and documentation is up to date, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.

  
  

• Managing and reporting on reconciliations, including monthly bank, Council Tax, and NDR reconciliations.

  
  

• Preparing journals, producing reports, and supporting the maintenance of statutory accounting records.

  
  

• Supporting and tracking audit actions with monthly RAG status reporting to management.

  
  

• Deputising for the AP/AR and Compliance Manager, including checking high-value payments with oversight from a qualified accountant.

  
  What we’re looking for:

  • Strong background in financial compliance, audit support, or revenue services.

    
    

  • Experience managing a team and supporting staff development.

    
    

  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills.

    
    

  • Ability to interpret and implement procedures, manage risk, and improve controls.

    
    

  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels.
