Summary

A newly refurbished upmarket pub serving only the finest home-cooked food and a wide variety of contemporary and traditional beverages.

Trainee Sous Chef at The New Inn, assisting with food preparation, basic cooking techniques, and plating under senior chef supervision. Develop core culinary skills including knife handling, portion control, stock rotation, and kitchen hygiene. Complete a Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship through structured training and mentorship.

Job Purpose:
To support the preparation and delivery of high-quality British gastropub cuisine at The New Inn, a newly refurbished venue known for its generous portions, seasonal specials, and warm hospitality. The apprentice will learn and apply core culinary skills while contributing to a smooth and efficient kitchen operation, working with standardised recipes and prepared ingredients in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparing and cooking dishes using fresh and pre-prepared ingredients to meet menu specifications
• Follow standard operating procedures and portion control guidelines
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Support stock rotation, inventory checks, and waste reduction practices
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure timely service
• Contribute to menu consistency and customer satisfaction through accurate preparation
• Participate in training and development activities to meet apprenticeship requirements
• This role will also include general kitchen tasks

Entry Requirements:
No prior experience required

Working Hours:
Variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, in line with business needs and service demands.

30 hours per week
