This pivotal role involves managing projects from initial concept through to full-scale production, including the design, development, engineering, and manufacture of both new and existing products. The successful candidate will maintain accurate product data within the ERP system and oversee CNC programming across relevant machinery. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders, this role demands a proactive approach to technical support, prioritisation of cross-departmental requests, and a commitment to best practices in design and manufacturing.
The Design Engineer will be responsible for:
• Manage new product briefs from concept to production, including engineering development, CAD creation, and full documentation.
• Design and prototype new products, producing concept visuals, models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
• Maintain accurate product data within the EFACS system and ensure CNC programs are correct and up to date across all relevant machines.
• Collaborate with purchasing to source components and materials from new and existing suppliers.
• Work closely with marketing to ensure products are accurately represented and communicated.
• Provide technical and engineering support to internal teams and external customers, ensuring timely resolution of enquiries.
• Ensure all products meet current industry standards and reflect market trends in both form and function.
Skills and Experience
• Proven experience in product design and development, from concept through to production.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software for creating detailed models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
• Solid understanding of CNC programming and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally, for maintaining accurate product data.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks across multiple departments.
• Qualified to a HNC or Level 3 qualification within an engineering discipline.
• Strong experience in a similar role such as Design Engineer / Project Design Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer / CADCAM Engineer.
