Summary

Nursery Deputy Room Leader – Up to £31,000 – Full-Time

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Deputy Room Leader to join a thriving early years setting.


This role is ideal for an experienced Nursery Practitioner looking to step up, or a Deputy Room Leader looking for a new challenge. You’ll play an important role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

As Nursery Deputy Room Leader, you’ll work closely with the Room Leader, supporting both children and staff. From planning engaging activities to mentoring colleagues, this role is perfect for someone passionate about early years education and confident in leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • A full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years (or above)
  • Experience as a Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator, or Deputy Room Leader
  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding, and health & safety
  • Confidence in supporting staff and stepping into leadership when needed
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • A nurturing, proactive approach with a genuine passion for childcare

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Support: Assist the Room Leader with daily operations, staff mentoring, and parent communication
  • Childcare Excellence: Deliver high standards of care, learning, and safeguarding for all children
  • Curriculum Delivery: Support the EYFS curriculum and help implement creative, child-led learning opportunities
  • Observation & Assessment: Track children’s progress and contribute to personalised learning journeys
  • Team Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with colleagues, families, and external professionals
  • Safe Environment: Ensure the nursery room is clean, organised, and compliant with health & safety
