- Home based (Although this is a homebased role, frequent travel to multiple sites is expected)
Full time – 37 hours per week
Salary – From £32,000.00 per annum, depending on experience plus Serco Benefits.
Main Purpose:
The Employability Trainer is responsible for the delivery of skills programmes, delivered by Restart Serco on behalf of DWP to ensure we meet regulatory and contractual obligations. The purpose of the role is the delivery of employability skills for unemployed participants who have been mandated to our welfare to work provision. We at Serco are passionate about making a meaningful difference and supporting individuals into sustainable work.
We are looking for an incredible Employability Trainer to deliver employability skills within the Restart Scheme. Training will be delivered remotely but with some face-to-face delivery at our various venues and offices within the West Midlands and Wales on occasions.
Our aim is to deliver effective and competitive training that increases participants’ abilities to gain employment. Training should be high quality, as judged by DWP.
Topics will cover all aspects customer service, retail and warehousing employability skills, for those looking to gain work in a variety of sectors
The courses may be run as standalone delivery or integrated into other programmes. Collaboration between all delivery and front of house colleagues, will be key to success and helping individuals find sustainable employment.
Main Accountabilities:
· Contribute to the development of high-quality materials, accessible to all learners, to maintain and enhance the quality of learning experiences
· Deliver employability skills to cohorts of learners via face -to-face, online learning platforms and other remote systems, and lead face-to-face sessions, either in groups and workshops or one-to-one as required.
· Complete formative diagnostics of learner evidence throughout the programme to ensure appropriate progress of learner towards gaining employment.
· Work with Employment Coaches to prepare a personal development plan for each learner to ensure they complete in a timely manner
· Work with Employment Coaches to provide appropriate Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to all learners on our programmes
· Work closely with colleagues (other tutors, Training Manager etc) to ensure our skills portfolio is effectively delivered
· Understand opportunities available for further training (both free and funded) in order to share this with learners for advancement.
· Assist in the coordination and marketing of all programmes
· Maintain good communications and strong professional links with all personnel involved in the Restart team and across Serco learning.
What you will need for the role:
Essential
· Qualified to a minimum L3 subject specific (PTLLS, DTLLS, CTLLS or level 3 Certification within employability.
· Minimum L3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent)
· Relevant industry experience in Warehousing, Customer Service or Retail
· Experience of delivering Employability programmes
· Experience of designing and delivering education programmes in the adult education sector.
· Excellent knowledge and understanding of online and face to face teaching techniques
· Ability to motivate unemployed participants throughout their Restart programme
· To show empathy, and understanding
· Strong communication skills
· Excellent planning and organisational skills
· Enhanced DBS and BPSS certification required before delivering to learners
Desirable
· Has an assessor or teaching qualification at level 4 or above qualification teaching
· Experience of working under pressure to meet participants expectations
· Knowledge of online learning and learner management systems
· Commitment to personal development and learning
· Manage own workload, anticipate issues, and thrive under pressure
· Experience of working within AEB, DWP, ESFA or OFSTED regulated environment
· Strive to succeed and maintain a pro-active attitude to helping others gain sustainable employment.
