Summary

Learning Support Worker

The Department of Supported Learning seeks to recruit 3.4 Learning Support Worker (LSW) term time only, to work with both individual and small groups of learners to support their access to the curriculum. Learners may have mild or complex learning difficulties or disabilities, be young (from aged 14+) or adult. You will be working in a hardworking, passionate and supportive team, who are committed to getting the best out of our learners.

Working under the direction and supervision of managers and teaching staff to provide high quality and appropriately targeted support to learners with learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities in order to facilitate their independence, their personal care needs, their access to learning and their integration into the college community.

LSWs may work within a number of learner groups and right across the Department but should expect to work predominantly within the Supported Learning area, led by an LSW manager and co-ordinator and managed by 2 Curriculum Managers.

The successful candidates will have sound literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2 achievement /ability in English and Maths), be IT literate and willing to undertake CPD. Experience of working with and supporting special needs learners within an educational context and a proven ability of building good relationships with teaching are essential
