About us
The National Railway Museum (NRM) and its sister museum Locomotion (LCM) who are part of the Science Museum Group (SMG), inspire the next generation with the past, present and future of the railways. Critical to this is how we engage our audiences and provide them with memorable experiences. The re-opening of Station Hall at NRM, the remobilisation of the Miniature Railway, and our ambitious plans for Central Hall at NRM means this is more important than ever as we drive to become the world's railway museum.
To support this work, we are now looking for a full-time Miniature Rail & Team Administrator to be based at the Railway Museum in York. Due to the need for the team to have a weekend presence, the working days are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (with Tuesday/Wednesday as weekly days off).

You will play a key role in supporting the large team of volunteers and casual colleagues to deliver visitor experiences with a special focus on Miniature Railway rides at NRM, acting as a point of contact and working with colleagues from across the museum to ensure the safe operation of the service. There will also be opportunities to assist with operational duties of the Workshop & Traction team, including rail vehicle shunting.
