We have 3x vacancies as a Carpenter Apprentice.


Objective of role

As an Apprentice Carpenter, you will play a vital role in supporting the council’s commitment to maintaining safe, functional, and well-presented living environments for residents across the borough.Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of woodwork and structural elements within council-owned properties.

This practical role offers a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on carpentry skills while contributing to the wellbeing of the local community.You’ll help ensure that fixtures such as doors, windows, flooring, and fittings are secure, functional, and meet safety and quality standards.

Your contribution will have a direct impact on residents’ comfort and safety, and you’ll gain meaningful experience in public service delivery, technical craftsmanship, and collaborative working, all within a structured and supportive apprenticeship programme.


About the role

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of woodwork and structural fittings within residential properties across the borough.
  • Support qualified carpenters in identifying and resolving issues related to fixtures, fittings, and general property upkeep.
  • Carry out routine inspections and basic carpentry tasks under supervision.
  • Learn and apply health and safety standards in all aspects of carpentry and property maintenance work.
  • Engage with residents professionally and respectfully while working in their homes.
  • Record and report work completed using council systems and procedures.


Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A genuine interest in carpentry works and property maintenance.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced tradespeople.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
  • Respect for confidentiality and professionalism when working in residents’ homes.
  • Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme, including attending training sessions and assessments.
