We have 2x vacancies as a Electrician Apprentice.
Objective of role
As an Apprentice Electrician, you will play a vital role in supporting the council’s commitment to maintaining safe, functional, and comfortable living environments for residents across the borough.Working alongside experienced professionals, you will assist in the upkeep, repair, and improvement of electrical systems of council-owned properties.
This practical role offers a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on skills while contributing to the wellbeing of the local community.You’ll help ensure that essential electrical services such as lighting and power supply are functioning correctly and meet safety regulations.
Your contribution will have a direct impact on residents’ daily lives, and you’ll gain meaningful experience in public service delivery, technical problem-solving, and collaborative working, all within a structured and supportive apprenticeship programme.
About the role
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems within residential properties across the borough.
- Support qualified electricians in diagnosing and resolving issues.
- Carry out routine inspections and basic installations under supervision.
- Learn and apply health and safety standards in all aspects of electrical work.
- Engage with residents professionally and respectfully while working in their homes.
- Record and report work completed using council systems and procedure
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A genuine interest in electrical works and property maintenance.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced tradespeople.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
- Respect for confidentiality and professionalism when working in residents’ homes.
- Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme, including attending training sessions and assessments.
