Summary

HGV Trailer Technician / Trailer Mechanic / Semi-Trailer Fitter – Bedford

Location: Bedford
Salary: £38,000 – £44,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, overtime opportunities available
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled HGV Trailer Technician, Trailer Mechanic, or Semi-Trailer Fitter to join our busy workshop in Bedford. This permanent role offers excellent pay, overtime, and the chance to work on a wide range of trailer types and systems in a professional and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities for HGV Trailer Technician, Trailer Mechanic, or Semi-Trailer Fitter:

Perform inspections, servicing, and repairs on trailers to the highest safety and quality standards
Accurately complete compliance and service documentation
Diagnose and repair faults using EBS systems including HALDEX, WABCO, and KNORR BREMSE
Participate in ongoing training and technical development
Deliver excellent customer service while meeting deadlines
Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
Adapt to changing duties under supervisor guidance

Skills and Qualifications for HGV Trailer Technician, Trailer Mechanic, or Semi-Trailer Fitter:

Essential:

Experience working on semi-trailers or heavy vehicles
Industry standard qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQs

Desirable:

HGV Class 1 driving licence
IRTEC accreditation
EBS diagnostics experience including Knorr Bremse, Haldex, WABCO
Welding certification
Experience with axle manufacturers such as BPW, SAF, or JOST
Tail lift training and experience
Experience with double deck or lifting deck maintenance
