Summary

About you:

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is dedicated to high standards, has a 'can do' attitude, and a problem solving approach. The ideal candidate will have experience in sports maintenance and use of plant machinery, with a background in horticulture and grounds maintenance. Training will be available for successful candidates.

The successful applicant will play a key role in keeping the city looking good by supporting frontline operations within our Public and Green Space Parks Team. They will be expected to be flexible in order to meet the operational demands of the service.

About the role:

The PGS Sports maintenance team undertake sports provision across ECC sites across Exeter. Works include, but are not limited to, marking and maintenance of Bowling greens, Croquet lawns, Football, Rugby, Tennis and Baseball pitches.

We are looking for people with a background in Sports maintenance, with experience in the use of plant machinery, and a passion for horticulture as the role will also include grounds maintenance in other areas of Public Open Spaces.

A full UK drivers’ licence is essential for the role, and good communication is a must due to team-based work.

The role offers candidates a clear pathway for career progression, an annualised hours programme with reduced working hours in the winter, and enrolment in the Local Government Pensions scheme.

About the team:

Exeter City Councils Public and Green Space department are responsible for the grounds maintenance of the city of Exeter, covering roles such as grass cutting, shrub maintenance, sports provision and street cleansing to keep Exeter looking good.
