Summary
Alfa Leisureplex Group has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Manager to join the team at our Central office in Buckshaw Village, Chorley.
As a Transport Manager you will work 37.5 hours over 5 days including 1 in 3 weekends. The salary for this role is £40k per annum dependent on skills and experience with an annual bonus scheme in place.
Being a Transport Manager
The role of the Transport Manager will be predominantly office based with the occasional need for travel to visit your interchange areas and will be based on a 37.5 hour working week usually over 5 days. This will involve working 1 in 3 weekends both Saturday and Sunday with days off in the week.
As a Transport Manager you will report directly to the Head of Transport operations and work closely with 2 other Transport Managers, with line responsibility for a Transport Assistant.
You will take responsibility for the leadership of the brochure areas including drivers and interchange employees ensuring cost effective resourcing and efficient utilisation of your coach fleet and drivers as well as the allocation of tours and feeders to 3rd party operators where applicable. As transport manager you will ensure the operation remains safe and fully compliant with legal operating requirements, developing and deploying best practice approaches to provide an excellent customer experience.
Our ideal candidate:
Will have worked in a PSV environment, preferably in the Coach industry
Have operational experience within a logistics environment
Must be working towards or hold a PCV CPC
Possess excellent people management skills
A customer focussed approach
Demonstratable commercial decision making
Calmness under pressurised situations
Key responsibilities:
People manager of circa 20 – 25 coach tour drivers geographically spread within the UK
Utilisation of the coach fleet and driver resources through detailed planning and recruitment
Maintaining compliance in regard to both safe and legal drivers and vehicles
Negotiate cost effective contracts with third party coach operators to provide both feeder and tour vehicles
Collaboration with other departments to deliver a first-class experience for our customers
