Cleaning Operative

We have some exciting opportunities to join our team in based in Lerwick. You’ll be part of our House Keeping team who work hard to provide a high-quality service within one of Transport’s flagship contracts NorthLink Ferries. As the Cleaning Operative, you will ensure a high level of cleanliness of the vessels, terminal buildings, and other port facilities at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Cabin Cleaning:
- Thoroughly clean and sanitise guest cabins, including making beds, changing linens and towels, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing amenities.
- Ensure all fixtures and fittings are clean and in good working order.
- Report any maintenance issues or damages to the Cleaning Supervisor.
Public Area Cleaning:
- Clean and maintain public areas such as corridors, lounges, toilets and stairways.
- Cleaning and maintain cleanliness of the terminal buildings and office areas.
- Vacuum, mop, sweep, and polish surfaces as required.
- Empty waste bins and ensure proper waste disposal.
Laundry Duties (if required):
- Assist with laundry duties, including sorting bedding and towels.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and guest amenities.
- Report low stock levels to the Cleaning Supervisor.
Adherence to Standards:
- Follow all company policies and procedures regarding cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
- Adhere to sanitation guidelines and use cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
- Follow safety procedures in case of spills.
Passenger Interaction:
- Provide friendly and courteous service to passengers.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
Teamwork:
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
- Assist other housekeeping staff as needed.
- Attend team meetings
Training:
- Ensure all Serco Essentials and E -learning is completed and up to date.
Experience
- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience, preferably in a hotel or similar environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to company standards.
