Summary

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB.
To provide support to a young boy with ASD who is highly energetic and enjoys swimming, loves dinosaurs and going to the park. You will be able to support the individual in the local community whilst ensuring his safety as he lacks danger awareness and is known for absconding.

You will be able to support the individual to communicate in verbal and non-verbal ways and enable him to make his own choices. You will provide this individual with opportunities to explore and develop in an outdoor setting, e.g. the park.



SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

• A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful and according to the individuals’ wishes.

• Car Owner/Driver.
• Experience of supporting children with ASD.
• Experience of using PECs (PECs board will be supplied).
• Experience of administering medication, such as inhalers, eczema creams and antihistamines (Asthma plan/health care plan will be disclosed to worker).

• Ensure that the individual’s needs are met at all times.
• Interact and participate with the individual to reach her potential.
• Support with personal care.
• To always ensure safety of the individual.
• Report to parent immediately with any accidents.
• Personal care.
• You have a responsibility as an Employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You must record all details in the accident book.
• You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident.
• A fully enhanced disclosure barring service check is required.
• Must have fully comprehensive motor insurance covering business use.
