Summary

Manpower Recruitment have teamed up with an established company in the Abingdon area and are looking for an experienced Head Chef.


The role is a full time, permanent role working 42.5hrs per week between the hours 7am-4pm. (Flexibility needed during busier times)


The expectations are full flexibility, so please be expected to work weekends when required.
A full UK driving licence will be needed, due to location and some parts of the role would be to drive the company van.


The role is paying £38,0000-£40000pa (depending on experience)


We are looking for a passionate and reliable Head Chef to join our catering team, working across two on-site kitchens that pride themselves on quality, seasonality, and sustainability leading the team of talented chefs.
This is a permanent full-time position, offering stable hours and the opportunity to work with fresh, home-grown produce straight from our estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading, motivating, and managing the kitchen team
  • Ensuring the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and allergen awareness
  • Designing and developing menus to reflect home-grown and seasonal produce
  • Managing staff rotas, authorising holidays, and monitoring sickness levels
  • Overseeing stock control, ordering, and supplier management
  • Completing regular audits and maintaining compliance with all regulations
  • Supporting with event catering where required
  • Running the kitchen efficiently and effectively to consistently deliver quality

Requirements

  • Proven Head Chef experience is essential
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen management
  • Ability to manage rotas, stock, and budgets effectively
  • Creative approach to menu development with an emphasis on fresh, local produce
  • Must be a driver (multi-site responsibilities and rural location)
  • Flexible, reliable, and confident in a fast-paced kitchen environment
