Your role:

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People to work within the Specialist Sensory Education Team supporting the effective inclusion of children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing. You will be working flexibly across a broad range of settings and with families, as part of a highly skilled supportive team to provide advice, training and teaching.

About you:

We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified teacher who holds the mandatory Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People qualification. Suitably experienced teachers who wish to apply must complete the mandatory qualification within 2 years of course commencement. You should have extensive teaching experience, expertise in the field of deafness and excellent knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities.

About us:

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.

The Specialist Sensory Education team is a peripatetic service who support children and young people aged 0-25 and their families in the home and a range of educational settings, working closely with schools and professionals across a range of services to implement interventions and use technology to promote learning for deaf children and young people.

This may include working from home, the office, or the community.
