Job Title: Estates Support Officer Variable working patterns on offer, mainly delivered Monday to Friday between 6.45am to 7.30pm, up to 37hrs a week, plus possible overtimeSalary: BB06 £32,597 to £35,412 (for a 37hr a week role)Closing date: 5pm Wednesday 24 September 2025 Interviews: to be held w/c 29th September. The Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust (BBCET) is a group of 34 Primary schools and 5 High schools across three local authorities (Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland). At BBCET we are committed as a community of schools to support each other so that all schools, employees, pupils and families thrive. We are seeking to appoint an Estates Support officer to work with our Estates manager and wider team in support of our 39 schools. As an Estates Support officer you will be required to work flexibly across all 39 of our schools where issues and needs arise. This will be: • To provide caretaking support to any of our 39 schools as directed. • To undertake any reasonable site related tasks as directed such as minor repairs, joinery, painting, responding to incidents, ensuring the safe delivery of contractor works etc. • To help ensure health and safety expectations are adhered to and recorded appropriately. Prior experience of working in a school in a facilities role would be an advantage, but it’s not crucial, as more importantly we are seeking individuals with a positive and proactive attitude in wanting to help deliver a safe and secure school environment. We want people physically able to help in our schools with practical DIY skills such as painting, joinery, plumbing. The postholder should be competent using basic IT systems such as email and premises management software. Training in specific systems and processes will be provided. This busy, hands-on, role requires someone capable of taking on instructions and new challenges every day. You will be comfortable communicating with people verbally in a calm and effective manner. On appointment, you will be specifically assigned to support one of more of our schools with the caretaking duties outlined above. It’s important however to know that flexibility is key as your assigned schools may change periodically and you will be asked to help support all 39 of our schools from time to time. You must therefore be able to drive and hold a current (valid) UK driving licence. An excellent benefits package is offered including: • A competitive salary • Ongoing training and support to deliver the role and develop further • Equivalent of a minimum 25 days holiday per year, plus public holidays • Access to the Local Government pension scheme (employer contribution rate currently 18.9%). • Family friendly BBCET policies and practices that promote health and wellbeing • Access to car lease, bike to work and local travel pass salary sacrifice scheme We are committed to safeguarding and the protection of all our pupils therefore the post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
