Reporting to the IT Service Portfolio and Programme Manager, the role sits within the Service Portfolio and Programme Management team and is critical in the delivery of effective and efficient IT Services across the council.
As a Project Manager you will work alongside 2 existing Project Managers within IT Services to deliver your assigned projects in conjunction with the wider portfolio of IT projects. Projects may be assigned from initiation however some projects may be mid-flight and as an IT Project Manager you must be able to pick the project up, ascertain the current status with the available project documentation and by liaising with key stakeholders including the Project team and IT resources and progress the project to successful delivery.
This post is critical to the delivery and ongoing development of excellent, cost effective IT services which are able to respond quickly, adapt progressively and meet ever increasing council demands.
The post holder may deal with Depute Chief Executives, Heads of Service, senior managers, IT staff, customers and suppliers on a regular basis, taking into account their needs and balancing this with the needs of the council.
The IT structure is based on ITILv3 and you must have a comprehensive understanding, knowledge and experience of good practice. Applicants will also have extensive experience in IT with proven project management experience ideally in the delivery of both business and IT projects. The post holder must have the experience and ability to manage multiple projects varying is size & complexity simultaneously. The council delivers projects applying project governance based on PRINCE II.
