We are looking for positive and enthusiastic individuals to help deliver the Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme for children in Stromness Primary School.

The hours are worked around school timetables and breaks, four days per week.

The post will involve organising and supervising children brushing their teeth as part of the NHS Orkney Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme. You will work on your own supervising children brushing their teeth, but you will have regular contact with the NHS Orkney Oral Health Team. While your role is not to brush children’s teeth you will be there to encourage the children to brush their teeth well and develop this important lifetime habit.

Appropriate and relevant experience of working with children is essential and a basic knowledge / interest in oral health improvement would be an advantage. Applicants must also have an awareness of infection control procedures.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to a Level 2 Disclosure Check with PVG for working in a regulated role with children.

Prospective applicants are invited to contact Karyn Tait, Oral Health Team Lead, NHS Orkney for further details at the Dental Department, The Balfour, Kirkwall, KW15 1NZ.

Closing Date: 23:59 on Sunday 14 September 2025

Please note that interview expenses are not payable for this post.
